TemanCare
Opening January 2027

A companion for every appointment.

TemanCare sends a trained, non-medical companion to go with you to your appointment and bring you home, so you or the person you care for never has to make the trip alone.

What a companion does, and does not do

A companion will

  • Meet you at home and travel with you to your appointment
  • Wait with you and bring you home afterwards
  • Steady you as you walk, push a wheelchair and help you in and out of a car
  • Carry your bags
  • Keep your family informed

A companion will not

  • Give nursing or medical care
  • Give or handle medication
  • Give medical advice
  • Act as an ambulance or carry you on a stretcher

If you become unwell, your companion calls 995 and then your family. Companions are not medical staff and do not manage a medical emergency.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the appointmentMessage us the day, time, place and anything your companion should know about getting around.
  2. Meet your companionBefore the day, you and your family get your companion's name, photo and a code to check at the door.
  3. Door to doorYour companion goes with you from home to the appointment and back, and tells your family when you are safely home.

Questions

Are companions nurses or carers?

No. Companions are trained and non-medical. They keep you company and give light physical help getting about, and they do not give nursing care or medication.

Which appointments can a companion go to?

Any medical or personal appointment, including regular treatment such as dialysis. Tell us about the appointment and what help you may need, and we will tell you whether we can accompany you.

Do you provide the vehicle?

Your companion travels with you by taxi, private-hire car, public transport or your family's own arrangements. TemanCare is not an ambulance or medical transport service.

What if I feel unwell on the way?

Your companion calls 995 and your family straight away and stays with you until help arrives.

What does it cost?

We will publish our prices before we open, and you will see the full price before you confirm any booking.
